I took before pictures in September, half way thru Insanity. I took after pictures in October, after finishing Insanity. They look exactly the same. In fact, if I hadn’t dated them, I would confuse the two. Actually, I’m lying. I could tell which ones are from after Insanity because my hair, thanks to Shakeology, my hair is longer.
I have mentioned the importance of diet when trying to loose weight before. I didn’t start eating clean until month 2 of Insanity, and therefore did not see any weight loss or inches lost the entire first month. I didn’t start seeing changes until I cleaned up my diet. I just wish I saw bigger changes.
Don’t get me wrong, my clothes are fitting better, and my face is a little more slim. I am very proud of my accomplishments. I guess I just wish my results where more noticeable. I’ve only lost 6 pounds since the beginning of September. I started p90x and my weight loss completely stopped. I know I’m building muscle, I can see and feel it. I am noticing more tone in my legs and arms (yes, finally toning up the arms!), but I feel like I could be losing more fat around this new muscle.
I took a look at my food log and saw the problem immediately. I am aiming for 1200-1500 calories a day with a ratio of 40/30/30 (carbs/protein/fat). I am always in my calorie range, well except on cheat meal days, but that’s by design. My ratio, way more often that not, is more like 60/20/20!!! Oh lord I love my carbs. Well now that I admit to myself that I know what is wrong, it is time to fix it. Gosh this weight loss thing takes a lot of work and tweaking, but the results will be worth is in the end. Nothing in life worth having comes easy.
So starting today I am cutting back on the carbs. Apparently good carbs, in excess, are not so good… hehehehe I will keep you all updated on my progress. I hope this takes me out of the plateau I’ve been on (for about 3 weeks) and finally takes me out of the 150s.

Small accomplishments
I’m starting to see and feel some changes in the bod. I feel smaller in the tummy area the most. My clothes are starting to feel like normal again. Also, my face isn’t feeling as round. My husband says he can tell that I’m toning up, especially in the legs. :)
I posted a pic of me on facebook the other morning. I was feeling cute so I took a pic. Hahahaha. Well, I got amazing responses! I wasn’t expecting that. It was great to see how many people can tell that I’m losing weight. I didn’t think anyone would notice. I’ve only lost 6 pounds, so I feel like I must still look the same. I’m guessing I’ve lost more than 6 pounds of fat, but I’ve gained a few of muscle. All the nice compliments totally made my week.
I don’t take compliments very well. I kept telling people that it’s just the angle, but you know what, it’s not just the angle, I AM looking good and I AM losing weight! I have a bad habit of saying “thanks, but…”. Just a few minutes ago I sent the below picture to the hubby. He said “nice picture! Mira la *look at you*” and I said “thanks but you can still see my white pudgy belly” Why do I do that? LOL I’ll work on it.
Today, every time I got our of my chair at work I found myself pulling my pants up. They have gotten a little loose!!!! These same jeans barely fit me over Labor Day weekend in Napa. Below is a pic of the extra space in my jeans! Oh darn, I guess it will be time to buy new ones soon ;)

Day 1 of the P90x/Insanity Hybrid
I just finished my first round of Insanity on Saturday! It was really a great experience. I only wish I would have started eating clean from day one. I didn’t, I started eating clean on the second month. I felt more fit after my first month, but I wasn’t eating well and therefore lost no weight or inches. I started eating clean during the last 5 weeks of the program and lost 6 pounds and lots of inches… oh the power of eating clean ;)
Today was my first day of P90x/Insanity Hybrid. I’ve been so excited for this! I loved Insanity, but I really missed my weight training. It felt great to finally pick up some weights today, even if they were only 5s.. LOL
I did Core Synergy today. I’m doing the P90x Lean program and replacing the cardio days with Insanity. If New Year’s and my Mexico trip weren’t creeping up so soon I would have taken a week break. A rest would be nice right now. Went on a nice hike on Sunday (yesterday) and I woke up sore and with shin splints. There is no time to slow down though, so I’ll ice my shins tonight and keep the momentum. Bikini here I come!
I was at a convention for work today. These usually KILL my diet, but I won today! I must admit I did have a lil cheat. I had a Hershey’s mini chocolate bar. I looked up the cals when I got home and It was only about 63... so it wasn’t terrible. I packed an apple and a protein bar, but I didn’t need them. I ended up leaving the convention early because it was so dead.
Tomorrow I will need all the good luck vibes you can send me though! I will be at the convention from 11-9pm. Today, there were actually healthy options for lunch. I had a grilled chicken salad. Tomorrow I’m sure there will be something similar… What I’m scared about is the dinner. Usually we go to the closing banquet and everyone gets served the same meal. Usually some sort of chicken smothered in some gravy and mashed potatoes and bread… It’s really hard to say no to food when you are hungry, so I will need to figure something out. Maybe scrape whatever is on the protein off and hope there are grilled or steamed veggies somewhere on the plate.
Excited for my new journey! Hoping for the bikini in January!

Progress
Today I will complete day 58 of Insanity! I can’t believe it. I’m so proud of myself for finally sticking to something, especially something as physically demanding as Insanity. I am actually enjoying my month 2 workouts now as opposed to completely dreading them like in my first week. I’m sure it has a lot to do with my teammates Jasmine and Denise for occasionally working out with me. Working out with someone makes it that much more fun.
That’s probably why I’m so excited to start P90x next week. I will have a workout partner on M-W-F. The hubbs is going to do P90X with me!!! I’m doing a hybrid w/Insanity and he will be doing his cardio days at the gym in spinning class. I’m really excited for us to have that workout time together.
So here is my progress report. I’ve lost 6 pounds in the past month. I’m only 6 pounds away from my “normal” weight of 147. I am 3.1 little pounds from finally breaking into the 140’s again. If I continue to loose 6 pounds per month I will reach my goal of 135 by New Years! I’m feeling great. I’m LOVING being a beachbody coach. I LOVE my Team Achieve coaches even more. I can’t even imagine what would happen if I tried giving up on myself, these ladies would never let me do that!
